Alice Forsyth-Bowley, Designer

Biography of the Artist

I am an artist in the field of fine jewelry.  I retired from Lakewood City Schools in June, 2009, and decided to follow my life-long passion of jewelry as art.  I have studied at Cape Coral (FL) Art Studio, The Art Academy of Edison State College (FL), and Bay Arts in Bay Village (OH). I teach jewelry classes at Potomac Bead Company in Fort Myers, Florida, and am  a member of the Parma Lapidary Club (Cleveland,Ohio) where I also teach jewelry classes.

All of my pieces are made with the finest quality materials:  14kt gold filled wire and findings, sterling silver argentium  wire (does not tarnish) and sterling silver findings, quality beads, and Austrian and Swarovski Crystals.   I also make a less expensive line of jewelry for everyday wear (don't be afraid to wear it swimming, hiking, biking, etc.) made of antique copper and antique bronze wire and also silver plated wire.  It is still the same fine quality and design, but uses less expensive metal.

I  began the ancient art of Bead Embroidery a year rand 3 years ago and fell in love with the art.  I design unique pieces of jewelry using hand-polished cabachons, cameos, ornamental metals with pearls and crystals surrounded by hand-sewn seed beads in many colors and styles.    Check out our Bead Work page.

I  began entering Art Shows in the spring of 2013 with the Clifton Art Festival.  Our season starts, again, this year with the Clifton Arts Festival on Saturday, June 20th.  The show is on Clifton Blvd & W117th Street in Cleveland, Ohio.  Our next show is the St John Westshore Art Festival on the campus of St. John Westshore Hospital at Detroit and Crocker/Bassett Roads in Westlake, Ohio on Saturday and Sunday, July 10th & 11th.  Our third show this is year is Akron Art Expo at Hardesty Park in Akron, Ohio on Saturday and Sunday, July 24th & 25th.  Our last show this year, but our best is  Lakewood Arts Festival on Saturday, August 1st.  This show is held on Detroit Ave in downtown Lakewood, Ohio.

Stay tuned for updates, like last year, we may have a Holiday Open House at our home on Lake Avenue in Cleveland closer to the Holiday Season!

Thank you to everyone for your attendance at these shows and your patronage!
